Little Trees

This year I made little trees for Christmas. I took a class in miniature quilts and learned a new technique for foundation piecing, and took to it very quickly. I found it’s otherwise very difficult to make anything small with quilting. Quilting is traditionally for blankets, after all!

Here is a mug rug with little trees. A mug rug is essentially a small quilt. My quilt group had a holiday mug rug exchange and this is what I put in, shown here before it is finished. I did manage to finish it in time:

These trees are even smaller! I made them into ornaments for my good friends. I am very grateful to my quilting friends for accepting me as a part of their group despite the fact that last year I could barely sew. Thank you for your patience with me and I hope you enjoy your gifts:
