Birmingham Quilt Show
The Birmingham Quilt show in early August is now one of my favorite events of all time. It’s incredibly inspiring to see so many beautiful pieces of art in one place, and talk to people who have such different experience and opinions. This year I had three small pieces entered, and it was a thrill to see them on display.
My piece that I am most proud of is a “creation” as it is 3D and non-traditional. I cut a quilt into 12 identical pentagons and slid them together to form a dodecahedron. It proved to be quite a stable structure. It was easy to transport home, too, since I could pull it apart!
My next piece was one of the 16 Irish pieces based on the theme “Music with a touch of red” and needed to have a small sliver of red. Mine is a Mix tape with red in the center. I was pleased how it looked in the set from Ireland.
My last piece was a miniature, though not quite as miniature as some of the others! These are the smalled pinwheels I’ve ever made, mine is the blue one with the multicolored pinwheels in the corners.
I thank everyone who helped to make this event happen, from the organizers, the teachers, and all the way down through to the other quilters all over Europe and the world. Thanks a million!
