Decisions, Decisions
One of my favorite aspects of quilting is deciding which direction to take. There are so many decision points in quilting. First you need to decide what to start, then there are always decisions to make along the way, especially if you decide to do a more free form quilt. Today I was inspired by a charm pack, 5 inch squares of bold, solid colors. I decided to pair them with black/white squares and make half square triangles, which are the basis of pinwheels. I stopped there after I squared off my half square triangles with my handy ruler that helps me make perfect 45 degree half square triangles. Here are three different ways I can arrange them. I have not decided yet which way to go:
This was my original idea, separating light and dark and making color pinwheels.
This is my second idea, making light and dark diamond shapes.
This is my third idea, making colored pinwheels with lights and darks mixed.
I still haven’t decided what to do. It usually works better if I have a few days before I make a major decision. And the nice thing is, there is no time pressure! I have had a lot of time pressure making quilts for shows this year, but this quilt is purely for me. I do enjoy these fun decisions.
