Hungry Monkey: A Food-Loving Father’s Quest to Raise an Adventurous Eater
By Matthew Amster-Burton
This fun-loving memoir struck a chord with me. I enjoyed the parenting experiences as well as the recipes, several of which I tried. I have this book out in my kitchen for inspiration. Even though I am not a spicy food lover, I appreciated the different phases his daughter went through with eating and could relate to the ups and downs from my own kitchen.
My favorite part of the book is when he talks about how fussy an eater he was as a child himself. The details made me laugh out loud. I couldn’t believe what his mother went through to get him to eat. And now he is a food critic. It just goes to show the parenting truism: Sometimes you just have to do things you never expected, it’s survival!
