King’s Speech

The King’s Speech, winner of 2011 Academy Award for Best Picture

This movie stands out, even with all the hype that it is a terrific movie. It’s sometimes disappointing to see a movie you expect to be terrific. This movie beats the hype. It is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. The characters feel like real people, though they are royalty from a different era. There’s a human moment where the king wonders what other people’s lives are like, realizing that he knows nothing about them.

In the end this is a story about an unlikely friendship. A very moving movie.
